Help us to investigate the flow of personal information

In our research at the University of Birmingham, we are looking for people to help us investigate the 'flow' of personal information between locations such as the desktop, inbox, bookmarks and folders.

If you choose to get involved, we will ask you to meet us for an hour to take part in an informal workshop. This could either be on the University campus or at some other location convenient for you.

In this workshop, we will invite you to:

  • take on the role of someone who is responsible for managing an annual outdoor event;
  • work through a simple scenario to design, organise and promote the event;
  • save and use various pieces of information such as documents, emails and web pages; and
  • tell us how you think about and use locations such as the desktop, inbox, bookmarks and folders.

Although we will video the workshop to help us analyse the data, only the research team will see the recording. Anything you do and say will be anonymous and we will not ask you to share any personal or commercially sensitive information.

To say thank you, we will give you a unique Be nice to me, I gave data today coffee mug.

If you'd like to get involved, please contact the research team at pimresearch@contacts.bham.ac.uk.
